How to make a recording not sound thin and tinny?
I've got a decent microphone for my computer but recorded voice still sounds really thin and tinny. I don't expect my recordings to come out as good as professional studios but it's so far off I'm wondering if I'm missing some entire area of the recording process. Are there effects commonly applied to voice/vocal recordings to make them sound more "full" ?
The best thing to do is to get a good mic that catches all of the frequencies and is designed for vocal recordings. Your cirrent mic may not have the ability to actually capture everything that it coming our of your mouth (specificially the highs and the lows), making it sound weak.
Using a quality EQ on your voice makes a huge difference as well.
You may be missing some part of the recording process. Depending the music you listen to, a lot of vocals are doubled, tripled, panned in different directions, etc. to make it sound more full.
