How do professional films eliminate the background white-noise that I always hear in my home movies?
Hello-
When shooting movies, seminars etc on my digital camcorder, the camera always picks up the background noise- either white noise (like a constant shhhhhhhhhhh / wind) or other various noises. When watching a TV show or commercial, during dialogue, its always quiet unless they purposely insert background music intentionally or want the street noise heard.
My question is, what trick or technique are they using to eliminate the white-noise my home camera picks up? Are they editing it out, using a special microphone? Hopefully this question makes sense as I'm having a hard time describing what I hear. ~Slacker
They use better microphones. Sometimes, during outside scenes, they will have the actors rerecord their voice and edit it into the movie.
