Easily accessible on the rear face of the microphone are the power, filter and level controls. The HTC HD Mini is a very capable compact Smartphone!
The HTC HD Mini is the new Windows Mobile compact Smartphone which has been designed off the back of the Legend and the Desire. The phone has a capacitive 3.2 inch touch screen and runs using the Windows Mobile Pro 6.5, it utilises the HTC Sense user interface. It's very pocketable with its super compact size and the design is exquisite, the HD Mini has a glimmering finish to its bodywork and measure in at 103.8 x 57.7 x 11.7, and it only weighs 110grams.
The device supports web connections via Wi Fi and 3G giving download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and both GPRS and EDGE are in place giving you up to 570 Kbps download speed. The Opera Browser acts as a good interface and plays its part in the web browsing experience well, the pinch and spread zoom system is present for better functionality when viewing web pages and a double tap zoom feature is in there to assist in reading smaller text. The device supports good messaging services with e-mail account synchronization; most E-mail providers are compatible including Google Mail and Hotmail.
Overall the HD Mini offers a smooth user experience and the 6.5.3 version of the Windows Mobile OS does an ok job of running the device, but more impressively the Sense user interface works very well, supporting your movement throughout the phones applications and the multi touch functionality offered partly by its capacitive screen makes up the rest of the package. The home screen is usual of HTC, it has a large clock dominating the display and has a live animation to keep you up to date with the latest weather happenings, and there are also a couple shortcuts to your call history.
There is Bluetooth connectivity data transfer to and from other compatible devices and the phone also has an integrated G-Sensor and proximity Sensor, when receiving a call the HD Mini recognises when it has been picked up and lowers the ringer volume and when you want to mute it just place the handset face down, also a built in aGPS and the HTC Footprints application have been pre-installed to help with navigation and the location of particular places and appointments.
The HTC HD Mini has a 5 mega pixel camera included for general snapping and shooting videos, it comes equipped with auto focus, widescreen image capture and GPS tagging so you can mark on a virtual map the location where the picture was taken. Videos can shot at 30fps and the microphone does a good job of picking up sound. The phone supports many file formats for playback including mp4, avi and wmv, the Windows Media player manages video quite capably and the playback quality is of a very high standard.
The Media player also likes a variety of audio files like mp3, wav and wma, the Windows interface delivers a simple yet effective design and the overall functionality is quite ample, also it you want to keep up with the latest news and favourite radio shows there is in integrated FM radio. By and large the sound quality is pretty good and thee is a 3.5mm jack for your beloved headphones.
The HTC HD Mini has a range of features including social network feeds and a brilliant multimedia centre, and the phone is very appealing with its cute, compact size and shimmering finish. The HD Mini has a lot going for it and may have an edge over its direct competition.
