Apple IPOD does not have a digital voice recorder or microphone built in. You can purchase a Griffin Italk for about 30 dollars but it doesnt work with newer Ipods, nor does it work with nano or shuffle.
MPIO....althought they are very hard to find in retail stores these days. I have one and it is great. It has the USB plug build in. It has EQ setting for voice recording and input recording. It has an FM tuner that you can just listen to OR record off of. It is very small and light weight. Works with any USB 2.0 system and the drivers that it comes with set up the device as a virtual drive.
