My Hp mic didn't work great so I bought a separate mic. How do i get my HP to recognize it?
It is just a little plug in microphone that i plugged into the front of the computer where the little microphone symbol is but I don't know how to get my computer to recognize it is there.
You do not need to do anything. You only need to plug the microphone into the microphone input of your computer and that is it. A microphone does not require drivers for example, so it does not need to be recognized. A microphone is not hardware.
To hear yourself with your microphone you need to unmute your microphone input on your computer. When you open up your sound controls, for example by double clicking on the sound icon in the lower right of your screen or via the Control Panel, you need to go to Recording and make sure that you microphone input is not muted, which it very often is by default. Once unmuted, the microphone works.
