Heil Sound Pr 31 Bw Short Barrel Large-Diaphragm Dynamic Microphone $270 The Heil PR 31 BW was a suggestion of Bob Workman, FOH engineer for Charlie Daniels, who uses Heil microphones exclusively. Bob uses the Heil PR 30 for just about every application but it was too large physically to fit in and around the drum kit so Bob suggested Heil cut it in half, and thats exactly what they didand the Heil PR 31 BW was borna 4" version of the PR 30 that exhibits all specs of the full-size PR 30. It has the same great frequency response, same wonderful front pattern, and the incredible -40 dB of rear and side rejection, which is perfect for using the PR 31 BW as an underhead microphone for cymbals. Placing a microphone under the cymbal has never been successful because the microphone hears everything around it. With the -40 dB of rear and side rejection of the PR 31 BW, the microphone does not hear anything but what it is point towardsin this case, the cymbal and nothing from the toms or other sounds close by. Using a right-angle connector and the Heil Sound HH-1 rim mount, the PR 31BW is the perfect low-profile answer for toms. The PR 31 BW also works great in front of a guitar cabinet, brass, and saxophone, inside a Leslie speaker, and is perfect for acoustic pianos. It's a go-to microphone for just about everything, including vocals. Crown Pcc130sw Boundary Microphone $299 The CROWN PCC-130SW is a surface-mount small supercardioid microphone of professional quality. This handsomely styled unit is appropriate for use on the most elegant boardroom table or lectern. Other applications include churches, courtrooms and teleconferencing. With its small size it is less conspicuous on a conference table than comparable mics and because of its highly directional pickup pattern, the PCC-130SW minimizes background noise and feedback. The microphone uses the principle of phase coherency achieved by mounting a small-diameter mic capsule very near a boundary. Direct and reflected sound waves arrive at the mic in-phase, and add coherently. This enhances sensitivity, clarity and reach. Self-contained electronics eliminate the need for an in-line power module. Powered by 12-48V phantom power, the PCC-130SW has a low-impedance balanced output which permits long cable runs without hum pickup or high-frequency loss. This inconspicuous boundary mic also features a silent-operating membrane switch that is normally off. This switch can be configured for touch on/off, momentary on or momentary off. A high-intensity LED lights when the unit is on. The 130SW is intended for multiple-microphone use on a conference table where each person wants control of his or her microphone. The microphone attenuates 70 dB when the switch is in the off position. Capable of withstanding up to 120 dB SPL without distortion, the PCC-130SW will never overload in practical use. Its electret-condenser capsule provides a wide, smooth frequency response from 50 Hz to 20 kHz. RFI suppression is included. Self-noise is low and sensitivity is very high. A bass-tilt switch allows the user to tailor the low-end response for particular applications. Included with each PCC-130SW is a 15-foot (4.6-m), two-conductor shielded microphone able with a TA3F connector (mic end) and 3-pin male XLR-type connector (output). The system has exactly the same sound characteristics and functions as the famed S25B, however the "TP "(tail piece) systems includes the ability to mount the mic on the tailpiece of an acoustic bass.All of the parameters that are problematic for the double bass have been addressed. The S25B- TP bass microphone will acquire the most gain before feedback by using a very tight pattern to give a high rejection to surrounding noise. At the same time, the system reproduces with great definition capturing all of the subtleties of the bass.As placement is especially important with an instrument that has a fine finish and varying dimensions, this microphone's attachment mechanism is designed to attach to the tailpiece of the acoustic bass guitar. This allows the instrument and the microphone to be placed back into a carrying case without having to remove the microphone from the body of the instrument. All of the bass microphones now also include D.C.T. (Disconnect Cable Technology). D.C.T. allows you to remove the cable from the microphone.Made from aluminum to keep the mass low yet extremely strong, the AMT bass mic will remain durable through many years of use. The flex arm is easy to position yet retains it's placement throughout the most active of performances. The preamp for the microphone is rugged anodized aviation aluminum, which houses the electronics that can be placed on the floor. This preamp uses a circuit that can change EQ, curve, and gain by exchanging EPROM-like chip. The preamp runs off of battery or phantom power. The output is terminated with a male XLR type connector for balanced use. The AMT bass mic is connected to the preamp by a 4-pin locking connector.
