Connecting my External Hard Drive to my router?
Hi
I have a WD 500GB USB2.0 External Hard Drive and i would like to somehow share it on my wireless network without have to do it through a computer (i work on a laptop, but not on a desk, on my bed, so its annoying having the hard drive there as well).
Could someone tell me if they think I would be able to use one of these

No can do. The reason is the USB port/external drive is a stupid device and has no smarts to be able to run the ethernet converter. So, even if you DO kludge together a USB/ethernet connection, the devices at each end of the link do not know what to do with the thing at the other end. You have to buy a different device, a Network Attached Storage device (NAS). This device has a dedicated computer built-in to be a network client. Some of these come with both a USB port and an ethernet port, with which you use one or the other, but not both at the same time. I have one of these. It cost me $40 on sale at Circuit City. I found a 320gb drive on sale at Office Depot for $100. There it was, a little configuration via my browser and I had 320gb of storage space on my network for $140.
