How can i record onto my iphone 3GS with an external microphone?
I record my own music on a budget home studio setup. I want to be able to record sound effects whilst out and about. In the absence of any money to buy a handheld recorder i am hoping to connect my Shure SM57 dynamic mic (XLR connection) to my iphone. Does anyone know if this is possible...? The internal mic on the iphone is pretty rubbish so any improvement would be great. Are any of the cheap iphone external mics any good..?

Blue Microphone's Mikey is very good. It is not an input adapter, but rather a stereo microphone. I rent one out to clients who want to track an idea and send it to me to develop during their studio time. Plus, it won't involve hacking up your precious iPhone.
