The microphone input is provided with a switchable -20dB attenuation (PAD), switchable +48 V phantom-power and phase reverse. Anyone got a technique for recording guitar and vocals...?
Here's the situation. I'm in Iraq and I want to get some decent recordings of playing guitar and singing. What I have over here is a laptop. The trouble is trying to find a good microphone that will record.
Do I need an omni-directional microphone?
Is there a way to hook up two microphones (voice and guitar) that feed as a single input through a mic jack?
If you guys have some cool snazzy tricks for cheap and easy guitar/singing recordings, please let me know. Maybe it's just a matter of quality of microphone. Hmmm. In that case, give me some recommendations.

Best to have something with independent track recording.
Check out ebay and such for old-school 4 tracks, they will be cheap and you should be able to mix it down into one track to load onto the computer.
Get one omni and one uni directional (especially if you are going to record guitar and voice at once)
There will be 'bleed over' but you will still have some independnece of tracks to shape the sound.
If your voice is loud and your guitar quiet, use the uni on the guitar and the omni on the voice, if the guitar is louder, than the other way around.
