What is the best budget setup studio to record rap songs?
I am a rapper and I want the clearest and cleanest vocals when I record. What is the best setup out there? My budget is 300 bucks. I was looking at USB condenser mics, but I hear a mixer and regular condenser mic is better? What should I do?
This will be hard to condense.
$300? Spend it all on a good mic. USB mics aren't really that good. Besides, all computers have that microphone plug in, so you don't really need to worry.
The microphone is pretty much the most important part of audio recording (besides what you are recording).
A mixer is only useful if you have more than one instrument (including vocals). But if you're doing a capella, then you don't need one. Mixers are just so that you can plug all your instruments into one place that outputs to one plug. (your computer only has one mic hole...if you have four instruments, you want to "mix" those together into one plug)
So the best setup is a cheap pop filter (those screens that go in front of the microphone that reduces the popping when you say the explosive letters like "p" or "t") and the rest of the money spend on a microphone (provided you have an audio editor...if not, Audacity is free and is good enough).
